I am back and I am married.
My wedding day was wonderful. It was absolutely perfect. I was told by people not to expect too much, to expect the fijians to be running late for everything and for some things to go wrong. Apart from the zit from hell right smack-bang in the middle of my forehead nothing went wrong, everything went perfectly. The staff at the resort were fantastic, there was not one thing out of place, everything ran like clockwork and Steve and I were both really impressed. It was more than we thought it would be! (and the zit was covered nicely by lashings of foundation which the beautician did a fantastic job of, and my hair, I loved my hair, oh how I loved my hair. It was exactly how I wanted it to be, I was so happy).
Its hard to pick my favourite part...hmm.
The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect and we even got a full moon that night, which is supposed to be good luck. The island where we got married gets windy when the tide comes in, but we knew that, and we got a bit windswept but it just added to the fun, especially with my veil!
The music, oh the music. The music was FABULOUS. I made a CD and we chose an acoustic guitar version of the wedding march. It was soft and romantic and I thought it really suited the island setting. I hoped and expected to be able to hear the very last bit of it as I walked closer, that's all I was hoping for. Boy did I get a surprise when my cue to walk was blasted out from the island!! It was fantastic!! I heard it all the way down the aisle. The whole resort heard it! It was quite dramatic, it must have looked amazing (Steve said it did), there was love songs playing and men in suits standing on the island, so everybody knew something was about to happen, then the wedding march started and then my bridesmaid appeared and then everyone knew I would be appearing and then I did! I walked down from the top of the stairs at the resort all the way down the pathway over to the island with the beautiful music playing. I was so nervous that by the time I reached Steve my mouth felt like it had dust in it.
I was talking to a lady who watched the whole thing (the next day she came up to me) and she said that everyone was looking and waiting. I was a little bit late, about 10 minutes, so there was a little bit of a crowd (I didn't notice), and she said the music started and everyone waited and then I appeared and she said I looked breathtaking. aw, so sweet. It felt good to hear that.
I must admit, I did feel amazing. I felt so beautiful and I felt like I was glowing fluorescent, lol. I was so happy. It was the second happiest day of my life. Nothing will ever beat the day my little boy was born and I don't expect it to, but I am happy that I can say that my wedding day was everything I hoped for.
We bought a cake, it was just supposed to be symbolic, it wasn't expensive, but it was cute and they wrote Congratulations Mr and Mrs Harmond on it. It was just from a fijian bakery. So we had a glass of champers with our friends after the ceremony and cut our little cake and everyone had a piece. It was bloody awful, worst cake I have ever tasted, ha ha ha ha ha, I didn't care, it wasn't supposed to be a serious cake anyway! I have no idea how they got it to taste so awful. Even I can't do that with my worst baking disasters.
The minister was fabulous. He was a kindhearted sweet-spoken fijian giant. The vows sounded great except when Steve said "I Will" instead of "I Do". He blames me because I gave him strict instructions to say "I Do" and NOT to say "I Will" and he reckons he got confused and made sure he said "I Will" loud and clear. We watched the video later and you can see where he says it and then you can see me muttering away, lol. Then I thought I would have to say "I Will" as well, to match, but then I thought stuff that, I wanted to say "I Do" so I bloody well did.
My little boy looked so cute in his waistcoat and pants and his tie that matched the bridesmaid. We hired a fijian nanny called Naomi for the day and he just loved her. She was adorable, he liked her from the start. My groom looked so spunky, but he reckons his hair went like Grandpa Addams because of the wind and having to wait for me for so long.
We had a wonderful day. We are both really happy with our wedding day. It was beautiful and romantic and just right. Its so funny seeing a gold band on Steve's finger. I am still getting used to it.
I will post more photos later. There are heaps, there were 530 photos and that's just on my camera. There are more to come but I have posted my favourites so far. I won't forget to post a photo of the cake!
