Yeah, I know my blog kinda sucks at the moment. There is nothing much to write about. Everything is going great. Callum is beautiful, he's so lovely, I just love him to absolute bits and I am so glad we had him. I can't believe I took so long to be convinced to have another baby, I must have had rocks in my head!! I love having a baby in the house, he's SO gorgeous and little and he smells so nice and he's lovely and soft and fat and he smiles all the time. We all just love him and he fits right in. It's like he has always been here.

Motherhood the second time round is different than the first time round. Part of me thought it wouldn't be as good, you know, same old same old, but I think its great. Its not 'better', its just 'just as good, but different'. The newness of parenthood is replaced by the realisation that this baby is a whole different kettle of fish, in every way. The first time excitement is compensated with the lack of fraughtness, nothing's a problem, its aaaaall gooooood. Basically, everything that is missing is replaced with something just as good. Bar nothing. I am very happy.

In knitting news, the fishwife that runs the centre was there last week and I had to leave Callum in the creche. I was very unhappy about this and ended up making up some excuse to bring him into the room with me. I don't know what I am going to do about this. I love knitting group but I hate being away from my baby. There is a divider so I can't see the kids anymore. It was broken for ages, which was excellent, but they got it fixed. I went over there and the creche lady said he had been a bit unsettled so she had rocked him to sleep. hmm. She is a very nice lady, but I would prefer to rock my own baby to sleep. The irony is that when he is in the same room as me he just sleeps. When he can't hear my voice, he wakes up and needs to be resettled. Anyway. Annoying.

When we got home he was very unsettled for the rest of the day and didn't sleep well that night. None of which helped my motherguilt.

In other knitting news, I just have the hood to go on my Easter Show project. I still hate this project and if I have time I will probably knit something else. I have made the sleeves just the right length, which is just luck really since my model has to be bribed with chocolate to let me try things on him, he's such an ungrateful little shit!

Callum is pictured with 'Otto' (thanks again Donna!).

In my knitting news: I hate my Easter Show project. I have unpicked it four times today. I can't get it looking how I want it and I can't knit without interruptions because of my beautiful babies. Its supposed to be a picture of a dinosaur but I keep losing my place in the chart and then winging it and then it looks stupid so I have to start again.
Also, knitting group started back up again today. It was originally cancelled this term but its on again after all, yippee! Callum slept through the whole thing until just before the end when he woke up in time to be handed around and clucked and fussed over and told how beautiful and good he is. lol. The sounds of knitting group must be soothing for him, he would have heard it all through the pregnancy so he slept like a, um, baby!

I remembered something funny the other day. Someone was having a little cuddle of Callum and told Baden that they were going to take his baby brother home because he was just so cute. Baden quietly sidled up to me when the person wasn't looking and hissed "mum, get our baby back". I assured him that we WOULD be taking our baby home. I can't remember who the person was now, my memory is completely shot to shit, (hopefully not forever but who knows).

Callum's tooth has come through the gum completely now. He was born with this tooth but it was still mostly sitting just under the gum. The midwife pointed it out. Now it's through and has a sharp serrated little edge. He's only eight weeks old so I am not sure what the deal is with that, he's a fascinating subject my liddle bubby!! He is smiling and laughing now. I sing the song "Feeling Groovy" to him and he always smiles at the same bit. So cute. I am enjoying him so much.

I have decided what I am going to make for my Easter Show project. I was going through my rather extensive stash of wool today to see if there is anything suitable to use, and of course there is nothing that is just right to match the vision in my head but really, I have so much wool, so so so so much, that I can't, in good conscience bring any more wool into this house (excluding the knitabulous sock yarn I ordered yesterday, I am talking about from today onwards, heh).

I have three different areas in the house stuffed full of wool. I have a very large wooden chest in the ensuite shower (that has been redesignated as a storage area because we never use the shower anyway). I have two cupboards in the lounge room stuffed full, plus another plastic tub stuffed full, two tafe bags stuffed full and a box under the coffee table stuffed full.

So I am just going to HAVE to use what I have got.

Alot of my wool is pink because pink is my favourite colour and I gravitate to it like a moth to a flame. But pink is no good for my project because I am designing a dinosaur/dragon type jumper and they aren't pink. And I want Baden to be able to wear it afterwards so I need something a bit more boyish.

I also have ALOT of unfinished projects:

One purple cardigan "Ivy" - knitted top down, sleeves to finish and button band to add
One teal blue cable cardigan - back and sleeves done, front to do
One purple and green infant jumper - front and back done, sleeves to do
One angora cream kimono - sleeves to do
One grey train jumper - finish back/front (knitted in one piece) and knit sleeves
One Iggle Piggle jumper - unpick and re-use yarn (bit of a fizzer and I don't like it anymore)
One dark blue flecked cowl neck jumper - knit the cowl neck, that's all it needs
One pair of Embossed Leaves socks - about eight rows of lace pattern and then toe on one sock left to do but I have lost my place on the lace chart.

There could be more projects around here somewhere, in fact I am sure there are...oh yes, just remembered one

One pink flecked February Baby jacket - about three inches of lace pattern to go
One watermelon baby cardigan - button band to go, that's it
Boheme baby jumper - buttons, that's it.

Okay, that was another three.

There are probably more...

oh yes,

One cotton pinwheel baby blanket - will probably be abandoned, too big a job, can't be bothered
One purple baby jumper with fluffy dog face - needs shoulder button band

oh, and of course

One 'Arwen' cardigan - have knitted the back and alot of the front - will abandon this and re-use yarn. Its too fiddly and I have forgotten how to do the cable now.

How embarassing to see them all in a list like this! Much better when the are stuffed away at the bottom of the cupboard!

Callum is six weeks old today and doing beautifully. I think he is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen, I have no idea if I am 'just saying that' or not because I honestly do think he is just beautiful. People tell me he's cute, but people always say that don't they? But anyway, he's lovely. I adore him. He's a big fat fatty boombah and is losing his newborn look. I have been totally robbed twice now. Baden had so much hair that he didn't look like a baby after about two weeks, and Callum is just a huge person. His feet are ginormous, everyone comments on his huge hands and he has just grown and grown and grown.

Baden is doing very well in the role of big brother, we have had no dramas whatsoever, he's his usual lovely little self, he is very proud of our baby and insists that we take him in to school to show them every time I drop him off there (as if I would leave him in the car anyway, lol!).

I need to upload some more photos. I just don't have much time lately. I certainly haven't had any time for knitting anything. I miss it a bit, but I saw my lovely knitting ladies today, I have missed them so much over the holidays. Callum got passed around and clucked over, it was so lovely. He's such a good baby, especially now that his neck is much better. He is very similar to how Baden was now, hardly ever cries, although his temper is a bit quicker than Baden's was I must admit - Baden was a freakily easy baby, Callum is more 'normal' but still an easygoing little bloke. I am very very lucky.

After I caught up with the knitting nannas I saw some other 'mum' friends for lunch. I really love where we live, I have been really lucky to meet some good people, and I also bumped into another friend which was a bonus. I am very happy where we live, I feel really settled here.

I entered the Easter Show but I don't think I will actually get my entries in. I thought I would just enter and hope for the best! I entered the same categories as last year, baby jacket and childs pullover.
