I didn't win any prizes at the Easter Show. I am not surprised, I just had a feeling that I wouldn't this year, I was just glad to get some knitting done at all. Here is the jumper that I made for Baden, I didn't use a pattern, I know the numbers for his size off by heart now so I cast on and winged it. I love shawl collar jumpers on little boys and I really like cables on them too. I love this yarn, its half wool half acrylic and its the third time I have used it. Different colours though.
I forgot to take a photo of the socks I made, oops. Oh well. I will show you them later.
Things around here have been really busy and now we are on the Easter Break. I was looking forward to forgetting about uni but I have an assignment due on the day I go back so there will be no rest for the wicked. I had already slipped into holiday mode and forgot to do one of my homework quizzes. But there are thirteen of them and they count the marks of the top ten towards your grade so it doesn't matter that much.
The next assignment is on Wal-Mart in the United States and I have been doing a bit of reading for my essay, to get some subject matter. Their employment practices are the subject of a lot of speculation and I have found it very interesting so far, particularly in regard to the conditions of the workplaces of their suppliers in various developing countries such as Bangladesh and Honduras. It is a bit of an eye opener.
But on the downside, I can't 'un-know' what I now know about the sweat shops in these countries. I was in a shop at my local shopping centre and it suddenly dawned on me that their prices were very very cheap, suspiciously cheap. Not the things on sale (I love a bargain!), but their retail prices....
erk. Moral dilemma.
Anyway, after meeting a friend for coffee I went back to my car and someone had kindly stoved in the front panel. Fortunately he left a note so he will be getting a bill from my insurance company. But its still very inconvenient to have to drop my car off early one morning and leave it there for the next three days. Its not till next month but I might have to reschedule because its around the date of my citizenship test.
But more about THAT later ;)

I have been thinking a lot about the cheap prices of clothing of late as well. I would really love to be able to make everything my kids wear, but alas, I will never have enough time. I can make a few things and then support all the wonderful little Aussie businesses to fill in the gaps.
Bugger about the car, but at least it was an upstanding citizen who did the damage.
Citizen test!! Very exciting.
