We had a busy weekend, two birthday parties in a row, both superhero themed, which worked out well but boy was I knackered that night and both kids were worn out as well. Baden was the invitee but Callum the Superbaby got to be a tag-along as well, lol.
This photo is at the first party, it is Baden's little friend who went to big school this year. He was dressed as Batman, the same as Baden, and funnily enough the same as the birthday boy at the next party!
This photo quietly cracks me up for one reason and that is that it just sums up my kids so perfectly its unbelievable:
First up, at the far left we have Baden, sitting quietly, doing exactly what is requested, after being encouraged to join in by the little girl next to him because he was initially standing back and not joining in. This is very typical of my boy. He is so reserved at the start, he is quite standoffish. He has a lot of friends but he is always so quiet at the start and then he warms up and starts to have a good time but then its time to go home. Does my head in a bit, but he's always been like that, even as a very very young baby, very quiet, I was still taking him to cafes with me till he was three. He was so good, would just sit there quietly, snubbing everyone at the start then slowly warming up, never touching what he shouldn't, never running off, always staying very close to me, sitting quietly the whole time then would just nod off in his stroller when he got tired.
Then...we have Callum. See where he is in this photo? Right in amongst it. That is where you will always find Callum. He is the most unreserved person you will ever meet. Goes up to random strangers and puts his arms up to be picked up! Smiles at everyone. Is into EVERYTHING. Will not tolerate being in the pram to walk around the shops, will not tolerate being carried around the shops, he wants to walk and touch things. Everything. Preferably to pull it off the shelf or pick something revolting up off the floor and put it in his mouth. I no longer go to cafes, that has been over for a while now. We didn't even make it to 15 months. I actually try to avoid taking him up to the local IGA. He is a nightmare!! He eventually got taken away from where he was sitting in this photo because he pushed the button on Spidermans iPod and ruined Pass the Parcel. Two seconds later and he is reaching up for the facepaints. aaaaargh.
So yeah, this photo is gold to me. It makes me laugh just looking at it.
