Here is the latest creation off the needles. It's just a little shawl collar cardigan made out of a acrylic/wool mix bought from Spotlight. I don't usually like acrylic but I have been leaning towards it a bit more for the kids after I accidentally threw one of Callum's jumpers in the washing machine and it came out perfect. Yep, it was acrylic. Made me think its not so bad after all. I still prefer it to have some wool content in it though.
I love the wooden buttons. I always gravitate towards the wooden buttons.
The other pic is of the Wonderful Wallaby jumper. I have made quite a few of these now. I like them because once you cast off you only have to graft the hood and the underarm seams and its finished. They usually have a front pouch but I decided to do the train pic instead because this started off as a vest and morphed into the Wallaby.
I am nearly finished my 'Favourite Cardigan". Its really nice. When it's finished I might actually make another one in cashmere.
In other news, yesterday I realised that my firstborn is growing up. He has made friends with the little boy next door, who is five, and has been over there and the little boy has been here to play, and guess what?, they don't need me. They don't need me at all! They play together and have conversations and run around and I don't need to hover to make sure no one gets hurt or won't share or play nicely or any of the other things you find yourself doing when your toddler is around other people's children. They're too old for that. I sat in the loungeroom knitting and just listening to them, helped them get a drink when they asked for one and got them some treats out of the cupboard to give to Apple, and that was all that was required of me.
When did that happen? I can't pinpoint a time. It didn't seem that long ago that it wasn't the case, a couple of months maybe.
