I have just been interviewed by a PhD student who is doing a thesis on homebirth.
It was nice to sit and chat and tell her the story about the day Callum was born. Such a happy day, the birth itself was kind of underwhelming, which is a good thing I think, when it comes to birthing, lol. Just lay around in the birth pool having contractions until your body pushes on its own, and then he is born into the water, scoop him up and say hello. My favourite part is when I caught him myself, just like I wanted to.
Having a new baby is amazing and wonderful and awesome and lovely and it was nice to sit and talk about it for a while.
Her thesis is on the spirituality of homebirth. Now, I don't think of myself as being all that spiritual. I am just a suburban housewife. But as we got to talking I realised that it was kind of a hippy-dippy experience after all.
Callum slept through the whole thing and woke up just in time to give a toofy little grin. He's so cute, and that tooth of his is so silly and out of place. It looks ridiculous. Whenever I pick him up and he opens his gob and flashes it it makes me start laughing. There are no other teeth yet. Still lots of dribbling and chomping though.
On the knitting front, I have started a cardigan called Favourite Cardigan. Its going quite fast. I can only knit at night. I stay home all day but I only knit at night. Callum doesn't like being left to his own devices, and when he sleeps I always end up doing other stuff, like cleaning or wasting time on the computer.
I finished the purple thing. Its awful and I doubt I will ever wear it. I am becoming quite fussy with my yarn choices these days. I am on a bit of a cashmere kick.
