I have been a mother for five years. I can't believe it. Baden is no longer a baby or even a toddler, he is five years old.
We took him to the Aquarium for his birthday. He had a party at daycare on the Friday. I made the fire engine birthday cake which he loved.
He had a great day. I know this because he told me.
So now that he is five he gets to start all the cool hobbies that I have been hanging out for him to start. First up was drum lessons, he has been asking for a while, I kept trying to steer him towards the guitar but he was quite insistent that he really preferred the drums, so I rang a drum teacher and asked him what he thought. He told me to bring him out for a free trial and he would tell me honestly whether or not he thought Baden was ready. So off we went. I could tell in the first few minutes that he was going to give the all clear. Baden was listening intently to the guy and doing everything he was asked, mainly just counting the beats and drumming four times on each of the drums and using the bass drum with his foot at the same time and remembering previous instructions. He did really well and he looked so cute, this little blondie on this full size drum kit, lol. I was very proud of him. So proper lessons start next week.
And we start athletics soon. Been hanging out for that one. I loved athletics when I was a kid so I have been brainwashing Baden about it since he could walk.
So that's about it for now. One hobby of his own request and one hobby stage mothered, lol. That's enough for now.
I love parenting newborns and babies up till about a year old, then it gets more challenging for me, two and three year old's do my head in, four year old's are a bit non-eventful but five year olds so far are back to being awesome because that's when they start doing fun stuff.
