See this picture? I didn't knit that. I can't knit that. YET.

I wish I was better at knitting. I am still on the basics really. I only just learned lace and can only do very easy ones, and I can only do one kind of cable. I still can't use DPNs properly.

I look on Ravelry and get so envious of people's skills. I guess the only way to learn is to practice though, so that's what I will keep doing.

When I look at how much I have improved in the last two years it takes my breath away. I have learned sooooooooo much. So if I keep plugging away then I should be able to say the same thing in two years time.

I am going to knit a cable swatch for a cardigan that I want to knit for myself (the one in the picture). I hardly ever knit things for myself, I like to do small stuff that is finished quickly. I have started a few things for myself but only finished one of them. One of them hardly got started, I couldn't understand the instructions and got very frustrated. I bought very expensive yarn for that as well. From the city. The other one got discarded after I ran out of wool and then realised that I didn't actually like it anyway.

But if I figure out this new cardigan, with the new cable, I will be very proud of myself. So that's my new project, as soon as the Easter show stuff is finished. And of course I need brand new yarn for the new project!! hee hee, don't tell Steve. None of the stuff I got recently on sale will do it justice.

I have nearly finished the "child's jumper" submission and I am glad its nearly over. I had to unpick the stupid motif on the front so many times, I wasted a whole day of knitting because I would knit a few rows and then unpick it again. That's the worst part of making up my own pattern. I have knit a size 4 so I won't be tempted to put it on Baden before the Show. He can have it afterwards.

You can do it, it's almost the same as a basic cable, just more stitches.
