Well...that was easy.
My kid appears to have toilet trained himself!
Today I took his nappy off and he ran off and so I left him to it. About half an hour later he looked like he was going to do a wee on the carpet (he has done this before). So I said to him "if you want to wee please go and wee on the toilet" and he goes "allwight" and goes running off to the toilet and stood over it. I told him to lift the seat, which he did, and then he stood there and I said "are you going to wee?" and he goes "nah". Then he stood up on the loo and I told him to get down and just stand in front of it with his willy over the bowl, which he did, but nothing happened.
So I said "well, if you aren't going to wee let's go then" because we were going out. He goes "allwight".
Fast forward to tonight, he had a nappy on and told me he didn't want it on so I took it off him and said "remember if you want to wee then go to the toilet".
So he was running around nude for ages, and then he was standing up and I was watching TV and not really paying attention and then I heard him say "oh, tort!" (toilet) and he went running out of the room.
I sat there for a minute, thinking surely not? But I got up and tiptoed to the toilet and there he was, weeing in the toilet. He finished and flushed and came out!
Just like that!
We didn't make a big fuss, just gave him a bit of positive attention but didn't make a huge deal out of it - mostly because he seemed very nonplussed by the whole thing so we sort of just followed his lead.
But then when he wasn't around we looked at each other and threw a few "oh my god's" around and were quite excited by this milestone!
